For as long as man has
traveled the seas, the sinking of ships has been a consequence he has
had to endure. Over the centuries, countless vessels have found their
way to the bottom of the worlds oceans, taking with them their
sometimes precious cargo and often times, many lives. These wrecks are
objects of fascination for many people including archaeologists,
historians, salvors and of course, recreational divers. Shipwrecks
provide many ocean species with a home, underwater photographers with
interesting subjects, archaeologists with a view into the past, and
artifact hunters the opportunity to acquire a unique personal
treasure. The discovery and subsequent exploration of a virgin wreck
is the dream come true of many divers, and that is what the Shipwreck
Discovery Program is all about...

This program is designed to teach you, the
recreational diver, how to research a lost ship and conduct a search for
it using modern marine surveying equipment. Once located, you will dive
the wreck to confirm exact location, attempt to identify the wreck and
map the site. This is an in-depth weeklong program which will take you
on an educational journey from the archives of the world to the bottom
of the ocean.
